I can't believe how engaging this was--or maybe I can, after going through arcs 1 - 4 of Our Wonderland--but not only was the writing great, the art was fantastic and full of life (the character models, the backgrounds, the CGs, and the animations/animated sequences were something I had no idea could be accomplished in Ren'py, and the soundtrack was fantastically done. (I loved the little beginning/rhythmic timing of the end credits sequence, too.) Amazing job, Carrot. And now onto T2A2.
Professional analysis time! (took me a bit because of school and stuff and I wanted to get all the endings first)
Okay, as a Orlam simp through and through, it was honestly refreshing to see Iggy interact with him in a non-cannibalistic setting. Orlam didn't eat anyone, but he still ATE💅 and seeing some non-violent, wholesome? banter between him and Genzou SENT ME. They're just so silly! And it just feels right to have implements that they, at some point, did the nasty and now they're in that angry stage that happens after the awkward stage of a one-night stand (not that I have experience or anything 😅 don't look at me). I just love how in the games, Orlam just makes sexual comments about almost every situation, and then he turns around and says that Genzou is dirty minded? Like sis check yourself.
Now, onto Genzou. I just think he's such a fun character. It's not often that you see a character that goes through serious character development, contributes significantly to the plot, AND provides comic relief at times. This is, quite frankly, difficult to do. Honestly, kudos to you for creating his character so well! And we see in the original game how he's just so accepting of Iggy's discomfort in sexual situations, and is perfectly content with just being near Iggy. As an asexual myself, it was oddly comforting. His random little quips and inappropriate jokes just feel so natural from him, which is also difficult to do (in a few other visual novels I've played, sexual innuendos and comments feel out of place and awkward, but you make them flow so smoothly with the rest of the conversation and the other characters). Overall, he's a well-developed and entertaining character.
Now let's talk about Ghent/Gidget. Gidget seemed defensive when Iggy commented on the fact that their character was male, even though they all seemed to be perfectly fine with it. Not to say that a cis person can't have a character of the opposite gender, but this one seems oddly specific. Almost like Gidget was projecting what they wish they were like? If so, I can relate. As a trans man who isn't out to his family, I often use male characters that are confident and authoritative and such, since I'm insecure and just wish I could be like said characters. Ghent feels like a projection of Gidget's suppressed identity. Gidget has such a good personality, but they feel like they have to act a certain way just to make others happy. This resonates with me on a spiritual level. I think it's safe to say that Gidget is both my comfort character and my ride-or-die from now on.
Last but not least, I want to talk about Bucks (Hunar is the least, and I don't have the energy to sort through his 10 lines of dialogue for scraps). In all of the games she appears in, she's this tough, scary-looking character who is really just an absolute sweetheart. Sure, she's destructive, but not ill-tempered by any means. I love the trope of the big, scary, violent beast who's really just a hyperactive, pain-tolerant teddy bear. And the fact that she's pretty much the little sister of the OW cast just makes it that much better.
Oh, and, before I go, I made an OW playlist! (I recommend shuffling)
Hey, I really love your games Carrot! Our Wonderland is such a good story. And this bonus adds are also damn great. >< GenIggy is deep, best ship, my otp fs. (for sure) I wrote a comment here because, I decided to play for Orlam's route and I am in love too. I also played Our Cinderella just yesterday, whew. Well, though I'm late, I wanted you to know my appreciation for your characters and storymaking. I'd love to draw fanarts, I'll probably work on it when I have free time. Lol.
i LOVE this game sm (as i always love other Our Wonderland related games)
this game is amazing about the lore and i like that it had to do with the main game at the end!!!
(idk if its a trigger warning but i'm gonna tell a personal thing so be aware of that yall)
Literally both Our Wonderland (and this one) helped me so much when i was at my lowest point (i had to distract myself 24/7) but this games helped me so much to focus on other stuff and avoid the bad stuff in my mind, i know this comment section is about people liking/loving the game, but i wanted to say it because i can't hold it to myself. Thanks Carrot for helping me without knowing it <3/p

In the words of my friend, "Orlam is just so- um, what's the boy version of pretty?"
I am literally in love with Orlam and I'm upset with you because of it.
